Lights, Camera, Shamokin! New Film Festival Debuts This August
Got a story to tell? A short film you're proud of—or one you've been itching to make? The first-ever Shamokin Film Festival is happening this August, and now’s your chance to be part of something special from the very beginning.

August 15–16
Screenings at Illumination Station and Artisan Alley in downtown Shamokin
Created by local filmmaker Matt Spade, the Shamokin Film Festival is a brand-new showcase for bold, creative short films from emerging voices—both students and adults. Whether it’s drama, comedy, thriller, nonfiction, or something totally out-of-the-box, all genres are welcome.
Film submission is open NOW through July 5, and it’s completely online.

Entries must be between 1 and 17 minutes long and created after 2022. Top submissions will be featured during the festival weekend and have the chance to win awards, including:
🏆 Best Film (plus a cash prize and the quirky Groucho Marx Award)
🎞️ Best in Genre: Cinematography, Comedy, Thriller/Horror, Nonfiction, Drama, and more
This is “year zero”—the beginning of what’s planned to become a multi-day celebration of independent film in Shamokin. So if you’ve got a vision, a camera, and a story, now’s the time to share it.
